As part of the study, we have spoken to school staff in schools across the country. They have shared with us their experiences of working with children, who have moved into their settings. They have also discussed some of the practices in place in their settings to support pupils who have moved at non-standard times.
Based on these conversations and on other findings from the School MOVES project, we have developed a resource for schools. The purpose of the resource is to help schools support pupils who move school and reflect on their own practice. The resource includes key information about school moves, provides evidence about its prevalence across schools in England, and highlights some of its effects on children and young people. It also gives examples of practices that schools and families have found helpful for supporting children who move school.
We are currently in the process of piloting the resource and therefore it is not yet widely available.
If you would like to find out more about when the resource is released and how it might help your school, you are welcome to contact the research team.
