The BELONG framework

This page presents the BELONG framework for children and young people moving school. The information included is based on what children, young people and their families participating in the School MOVES project told us about their experiences.

The framework includes six elements. Each element includes information that may be helpful for you when starting at a new school. You can use the framework to prepare yourself for a school move. You can also use it to talk to the adults around you about anything you are thinking about in relation to the move. Another page has been made for parents/carers, which they can access here.

If you prefer to read the information in another language, you can translate the page by using the Translate function on your internet browser. You can also choose to have the page read aloud to you, by pressing Shift+Alt+R on a computer or using the Listen to page mode on your mobile.

Children and young people have different experiences of moving school. Schools may also work differently depending on whether they are primary or secondary schools. Therefore, some of the information in the framework may not be directly relevant to you.

The webpage is still in development. When you have looked at the information provided, we would like to know if you have found it helpful and if it made any difference to your experience of moving school.

There is a short questionnaire at the end of the page where you can tell us what you think.

We look forward to hearing what you think and hope this page will be of help to you when moving school.
